What's a "WISP"?- WISP is short for Wireless Internet Service Provider.
How's it work?
- Our service is similar to DSL/ Cable and Business class T1, with the exception that we get the connection to you via one of our wireless towers. A small wireless router is usually attached to a window or to the outside of the building, and connects to your internal network the same way a DSL/Cable modem would.
Is it secure?
- Yes, and it's actually more secure in terms of encryption than a normal wired connection.
Is it slower?
- No, you can't tell the difference between DSL/Cable and our service.
Do you allow VoIP devices on your network?
- Yes, we even optimize our network traffic to make sure voice traffic receives the highest priority.
Can I use my own router?
- Short answer, Yes. It must be a wireless capable router with PPPoE support. Atlanta WISP supports an open device network, but cannot support devices it does not provide with the service. See THIS PAGE for more information.
